Glad you asked. Strip mining trucks and locomotives are large enough for FF modules. Underground mines still have large electrical loads to power. See above increased profitability post. It applies to almost any industry. 😉
Axil, I’m glad to see that you’re open to other fuels. Let’s start with a FF timing diagram to see why fluid cavitation won’t work here. The cap bank discharge happens in around 1 microsecond, and the plasmoid life is hopefully in tens of nanoseconds. This rules out fluids and moving parts, and every last one of the hidden costs of adding any part to an elegant design. The reason that Q has to be so high for ‘competing’ designs is that all of their huge magnets, pumps, buildings, etc. present huge parasitic loads that must be powered before declaring unity, let alone profitable operation.
‘Competing’ designs also have Carnot’s Law crippling the idea before it can even get to a drawing board.
Before a utility can be expected to commit to distributing the production of tens of GWhrs across it’s entire local network, all the way down to the local transformer yards, let alone replace an entire boiler/turbine/generator module, they’re going to need to prove it for themselves, using one or few FF modules to power existing parasitic loads. If it works, their experiment only cost a megabuck or so, and is paid for both in fuel savings and increased billable output from their already installed technologies.

As long as you rely on scientific advantage as a closed logic system, you’re going to be a voice in the wilderness, imho. The real challenges to deploying working FF power modules and plants is not so much scientific as it is political and educating the general public. The faster you want to bring this about in an honest economy, the more dollars it’s going to cost. It should also be less threatening and more lucrative to the existing ‘energy’ companies to get the machine properly lubed.

We also need to assume that even though FF operation could be taught on the job, it’s going to require at least a certificate from the local community college. That curriculum doesn’t yet exist, and it will most likely be government funded plus have at least a 1 year lag time to get certified O&M;people to the field.

Do I believe that this is a major concern? Emphatically no! But there is always some issue that can be used to block new technology.
Water extraction from the atmosphere? What about the decreased rainfall in the water-diminished-plume downwind? Shouldn’t the adopters of this technology have to pay the rest of the world some sort of “environmental sin tax” for the horrors of ecological disruption this causes?

Why are we discussing a zero-sum game concerning solar, wind, bio, and the like? It is our great privilege to make all of them more cost-effective by steadily lowering the hidden energy costs in manufacturing and installing them. ‘Sides, they already have some lobbying muscle that I’d rather not take on. OPEC & Co. is going to be tough enough.

He: I have heard before that having so many capacitors, maybe triggering them at the same time is a real challenge.
Me: How is your pf set up?
He: Our Of has a 16 KVolt capacitor with a spark gap which helps firing. Our PF is 4.5 K joul.

He: Yeah. Prof Lee is someone who has a very simple model which shows how an PF works. Prof Lee has a powerful team.
Me: I heard it was some kind of base model that he’s helped popularize so people in developing countries could work with the pf – he promotes the pf & pf research.
He: Yeah that’s right, our PF was developed under his model.So – apparently lots of pf’s out there have minimal capacitors. I did not know that. Time to gear this site and the forums up to explore every facet. Like the good old days when everyone had their own steam engine model, with varying levels of effectiveness.
And time to connect the dots of the dpf research community.
Separating the grounds was a great starting point. So many electrical problems trace back to a floating ground, unexpected current in the ground, electrical noise on the ground, etc. Sometimes just pouring some water on the ground stake solves a problem…
Assuming that the entire grounding system checks out, I have to verify that all 12 leads are the same length, and that all 12 caps have essentially the same voltage and discharge times. The lower the voltage, the more critical it is to know precisely how much each cap is contributing (or not) during the microsecond or so of planned discharge.
Moving the trigger box directly above the anode should give a stronger IR trigger signal while permitting shorter wires to the switches. Since the switches work with a spark gap, shorter wires should also give the trigger to switch signal more kick.
