We are chatting about all these suggestions, thanks guys. @FrancisL thanks for the reminder to get our last report on the website, it will have lots of pics.
But Mars Curiosity missed its 2009 original launch window, and LHC shut down for quite a while after its magnets misbehaved a bit, so the lesson is….Once the success happens, all delays forgiven! Good luck to the NIF team, and even more luck to us ;-D
Two sticks of Velveeta up for “Chain Reaction”! Ahmad and I watched it Tuesday evening, and while mostly just funny, the CIA vs. FBI element was reasonably smart.
We do promise that a Focus Fusion generator can never explode like anything depicted in the movie, sabotage or no!
We only had a few days of firing before having to disassemble to address a leak, at which point arcing damage was observed that is requiring more time to fix in a way that prevents recurrence. @LPPX will be tweeting the re-assembly and next round of shots.
I’ll add that we’ve requested the review that should clear the warning from the Googles, .
We have been reaching out to a bunch of folks at State and have only heard crickets thus far. Sanctions are actually enforced by Treasury, but again, the agreement was written specifically to fall under the exemption for collaboration towards scientific publications. It is unnerving that there has been violence against nuclear scientists, but we did consider that and concluded it was more important to move forward–And we hope this will lessen the chance for violence by defusing tensions.
We will post the full agreement shortly, which makes it a bit more clear that we are talking about a machine like Focus Fusion-1, with improvements based on our experience, but still a research device.
I did check with the DOE, and this money has gone back in to the general treasury so they can’t just give it to us. But we asked, and they are sounding more helpful these days ;-D
I think it’s a decent compromise between Eric and “Mr. Lerner” ;-D

It was something called the “Advanced Propulsion Technology” program.
Hmmmm, yeah, here it is still at the direct link but I don’t see how to vote it up any more, neither–Probably a bad sign. So, even if I’m having bad luck, don’t let that stop y’all from doing your own social media virality thing.
Here’s where you can vote the story up on Slashdot: http://slashdot.org/recent
It looks like a deuteron, instead of an aneutronic fuel.
;-D
Yes, PetriDish was very nice but they’re not yet equipped to handle for-profits like LPP. So we have now applied to fund the next switch upgrade ($25k) with Microryza, which is a for-profit entity itself. Hm.
