The Focus Fusion Society Forums National Ignition Facility (NIF) et al DOE review says NIF won't achieve ignition this year

    Not unexpected, but when you compare a project like NIF to say the recent successes of the LHC at CERN or landing the Curiosity rover on Mars, it puts into perspective how hard controlled fusion is. And hopefully make any breakthrough by them, ITER or LPP all the more rewarding in future.

    But Mars Curiosity missed its 2009 original launch window, and LHC shut down for quite a while after its magnets misbehaved a bit, so the lesson is….Once the success happens, all delays forgiven! Good luck to the NIF team, and even more luck to us ;-D
