You would probably be lucky to find a person who knows what the Tokamak is…. hehe.

Most houses run on a few kilowatts. So you could expect a 20 MW to power around 15,000 households.

Wow… sounds like the are more concerned with trademarks then with prizes. I just lost a lot of respect for their organization. It would probably be in our best interest to go with an independent prize similar to the MPrize where donations determine the amount that is available to the winners. Only problem with this setup is that how do you go about creating an “F-Prize” without being biased towards Focus Fusion?

I’ve been thinking about an article I could write that would include interviews like the ones I had outlined above. I could relate it to global warming, that way I could “hook” a lot of the people who may be wary of the idea of Focus Fusion. By linking as a solution to a big problem facing the world today we may be able to secure more support. I’ll start an outline tonight.

BTW, the Fusion X-Prize petition has 11 signatures. Better than nothing I guess! lol!

It sounds good. I have been thinking of either a specific Fusion X-Prize or a more generalized Energy X-Prize with varying tiers. Of course the Fusion X-Prize would be a good start, perhaps later an Energy X-Prize, which would cover the gamut of energy issues, could be created.

This sounds like an exciting technology… imagine the ease of building great communities for the poor in other countries! For the first time they would have a place to live and a school to go to, this could really change the situation in the world! Now to make these communities self sufficient they will need power… thats where Focus Fusion comes in!

Problem with Alt energy is that the energy density is too low to power everything, unless radical new technologies and changes occur. The infrastructure would take 1-2 decades to switch to alt energy resources. While I believe it would be a good idea to incorporate alt energy into everything, we would probably still require workhorse energy facilitators i.e. Fusion.

I’ve heard people say that we should do a more generalized “Energy” X-Prize, however the criteria for a chosen winner will be much more difficult to determine. I would actually like an Energy X-Prize because it would inspire creativity in all catagories of energy production and utilization, but it may be too hard to implement. What do you guys think?

I suggest that a talented writer(not me, although I can give input), write up a story about why we should have a Fusion X-Prize, then submit the story to PESN(Pure Energy Systems Network) or Free Energy News(same network as PESN). The story could possibly include a short roundtable Q&A session with the other fusion companies I outlined in another post, about what they think of a Fusion X-Prize. After the article is published(or right before), we list it on Digg.com, this should help get the word out. At this point we should have a petition that is worthy of recognition from the X PRIZE Foundation to sign by readers. Sterling Allen helped me digg a story on Kazimierz Holubowicz, a little known canadian inventor with a super efficient engine design, and after the reaction he has been able to secure many investors… I believe we could do the same for Focus Fusion/Alt Fusion field.

BTW, I have suggested to Kazimierz that he enter a vehicle based on his engine into the Auto X-Prize, hopefully he will!

Most of the companies above have been stalled due to lack of funds. If there were to be a renewed interest in fusion, with say the Fusion X-prize, these companies may get the funding they need to complete their technologies. Personally I hope all the fusion technologies make it on the market, I’m sure they will each fill a niche.

I can think of atleast three potential fusion contenders off the top of my head:

1.) Electron Power Systems(EPS), very similar in concept to the focus fusion, except it uses self-contained toroidal plasmoids and collides them. http://www.electronpowersystems.com

2.) Prometheus2, another device that has some similarities to the focus fusion device. http://www.prometheus2.net/

3.) Proton21, uses a gigawatt pulse to implode a piece of copper(simplistic explanation I know) producing energy and basic elements. http://www.proton21.com.ua/

Nah I don’t mind if you mess with it. I wrote it late at night, so there is much room for improvement! I just think it would be great to get a petition going as I don’t think they, the X PRIZE Foundation, are too concerned with any kind of fusion at the moment.

BTW, I personally don’t care what “kind” of fusion it is, as long as it works and gets us off these fossil fuels.
