I'm a 30 year old guy trying to get out of a profession in insurance to pursue a career in science; specifically one relating to electrical engineering, plasmas, fusion, or any other field of science I discover an interest and aptitude in.
I've spent the past couple of years learning about fusion science from a layperson's standpoint, following ITER, Polywell, and recently LPPX. My friend's father worked as a consultant for ITER briefly which helped encourage my delving into the topic. I decided to see if I have the ability to contribute to the development of fusion science; as such I decided to diverge from my degree in History to one in Electrical Engineering.
Having spent the past 2 years at community college building a mathematical foundation from scratch that should have been developed in high school, and recently completed a course in differential equations, I am ready to continue on to a major university and will be enrolled as a sophomore E.E. student at UAH in spring 2012.
