Science News had an article on fusion startups written by Alan Boyle, who has covered aerospace and science for MSNBC and other media, and who writes about EMC2/Polywell from time to time. Here’s the link:

It’s probably the most comprehensive article I’ve seen on privately-funded fusion efforts, and it even mentions one startup I’d never heard of before. The coverage of LPPFusion is pretty light, though:
Lawrenceville Plasma Physics, based in New Jersey, is developing a device that would zap hydrogen-boron fuel with a jolt of electricity, in a process known as dense plasma focus.
I thought the process was known as a “pinch”.
