What is the process for purging gas impurities from a dpf?
Ordinary chemical containers are commonly cleaned by triple rinsing.
Deuterium in a dpf should be a good purging gas because it reacts with oxygen or oxidizers, especially in the presence of electric sparks. My guess is that low power discharges in a dpf containing hydrogen or deuterium would free the oxygen from the electrodes and create water or heavy water vapor and oxide radicals. This gas can be removed and replaced with fresh hydrogen or deuterium and the process repeated.
Three purging cycles should substantially remove excess oxygen. Maybe the new quartz window will allow spectroscopic examination of the gas to see the concentration of impurities.
