    http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Lockheed_Martin_Eyes_Portable_Fusion_Engines_Within_Decade_999.html

“Lockheed Martin, the world’s biggest defense contractor, is aiming to use nuclear fusion to create cheap electrical power that uses water for fuel, produces byproducts that are totally safe and releases no air pollution. With the United States spending less on defense, Lockheed Martin is showing more interest in the energy business than ever.”

In the words of Hawkeye Pearce – “The Pros from Dover have arrived.”
But, I cannot help but believe Fusion may be a tougher nut to crack than
    these guys think.

The big issue I think is the magnetic mirrors at the ends of the bottle. It didn’t work 50 years ago, does it work now? Is the superconducting magnets the answer, or? The problems of confine a plasma in a bottle even with magnetic mirrors was one of the reasons why the Tokamak was invented. It has no ends voilĂ . But it’s so complicated and expensive though.
