It is very nice to finally see a picture of the assembled electrodes, even if the cathode is only a dummy aluminum piece. Looks really good – keep it around, someday it might make for a brilliant museum piece.
The bad news is that the fabrication of the tungsten cathode will take (even) longer. So my question is: is there any possible usable experiment that could be done with this aluminum cathode in the meantime? At high currents, surely the piece would degrade quickly, maybe even be destroyed in the first test.
