In science, a crackpot is often described as someone claiming to be misunderstood, and who refuses to submit their work to peer review. See the link here to a humorous page in Wikipedia on the subject. Strangely enough, the US is given special coverage on this page. As you might expect, Louis has a reputation for being a crackpot and is often pwned by scientists or critical thinkers who like to post his rantings on their own blogs. It makes for good reading.

Using the below formula, if you consume 100Kg of fuel on a 2000 Metric Ton vehicle, you end up traveling
.049 kps. This doesn’t seem to make sense. What am I doing wrong, or what is missing here? Is the exaust velocity an order of magnitude (or so) slow?

The maximum speed of the ship is not limited by the exhaust velocity as the action is relative… The speed limitation is mainly one of fuel, the ship will keep accelerating forever with infinite fuel and time, however as you approach the speed of light the net acceleration drops significantly as the relative mass increases.
My Bad! Thank you. I stand corrected. I was assuming that the equation for final velocity was:
Vf = Ve,
where Vf is the final velocity and Ve is the exhaust velocity.
The correct equation is:
Vf = Ve * ln(Mi/Mf)
where ln is the natural log, Mi is the initial mass of the ship, and Mf is the final mass.
I will do some calculations with various mass ratios and post my results later.
Ok, so the situation isn’t completely hopeless. It turns out that there are organizations out there which can help. The people over at Easy Fundraising Ideas.com have a plugin which is used as a cross site script. The page you use to generate your thermometer is here., and you get your personalized thermometer by clicking the create your own button, then simply copying the HTML into the area on your page you would like it to appear.
Well, sadly, there aren’t any such modules / plugins / expansions for the Expression engine. To make matters worse, this is a commercial package, so I’m not sure what the entry price is for doing development on this server, however, since the server is written in PHP, doing the actual development might not be too bad. In fact, I’ve written plugins for other systems simmilar to this one. I’ll have a look and see what the entry price is to do development and get back to you.
