Found an article called “Photon-enhanced thermionic emission for solar concentrator systems”. This could enhance the conversion rate for our x-ray-converter onion in combination with the helium cooling. It surely needs to be applied behind the layers of beryllium.

it is encouraging to see efficiency improve at higher temperatures
