Hi All,
I am long time supporter of Focus Fusion but probably not longer than a lot of our other official and/or forum members.
Last year our president (Rezwan) invited several people including me to join the board of directors for FFS.
The reason an organization needs to have a board, is because a single person cannot do much without having more people to rely on.
The alternative to being an an organized community, is being a website, which means that we are not really focused in trying to accomplish something.
Of course we can have volunteers, but they usually need direction too.
I worked really hard on it and also donated a lot of money to keep it functioning and to support Rezwan in her position.
We had our first members meeting in Fall and were able to approve the bylaws, unfortunately not intact as the board envisioned,
but at least incorporating the will of our members. We have approved FFS as a membership organization so that means members should be a driving force.
This winter FFS has launched a new initiative – Fusion Energy League. Rezwan has incorporated this as a new non-profit. If someone has not seen it
you can find it here: http://www.fusionenergyleague.org/ .The overall idea is really nice, something similar like FFS,
but for all fusion approaches and more streamlined to raise funds from for-profit organizations.
Unfortunately FFS board has currently shrunk and we need to get additional members to become fully operational.
There is going to be a new board meeting in two weeks time. If any of you really care about Focus Fusion, I would like to invite you to join the board.
This means you will have extra responsibilities and will be able to make decisions towards FFS future.
I will also extend personal invitations all over the forums, but if you can show interest first, that would make my effort easier.
If there is something standing in your way of joining FFS board, please let me know and I will do what I can to get you in.
If you want to become a board member, please send an email to me: igalvelis at gmail.com or rezwan: rezwan at focusfusion.org
