    2010 was quite a year.

In this report, we will be taking a longer view than our monthly reports, looking back over the entire past year’s work: how the project is progressing towards its goals, what our challenges and questions are, what we have learned, and what we still don’t know. The report is divided into five sections to cover scientific results and comparison with theory, the FF-1 device itself, instruments, simulation, and personnel—the people who make everything else happen.

    Thoughts?

Updates that catch us up, provide some eye-candy for those who want it and firmly point out that even with the delays caused by the switches LPP is still on its original schedule.

An aside: It’s a pleasant commentary on the FF public relations front that due to the open (if somewhat randomized) nature of FF information the only thing that was really news to this dilettante was that “pre-shock” is now believed to be “pre-beam” 🙂

My personal estimation had been that about 9 of the last 14 months were occupied with trying to make the switches do what they were designed and claimed to do by the manufacturer. I hope LPP has rights (patents?) to the innovations. It would only be fitting if said mfr. had to pay thru the nose to use LPP tech to keep up with the demand for the switches the 000s of FoFu-5s will eventually require. Though that might be shooting off FF’s nose to spite said mfr’s face. <;p

[Note to site admin: Smileys are broken again in Firefox. >:( <– that was a guess.
Or maybe it’s my NoScript settings. checking … ]
