The Energy Industry

Here are some thoughts on the transition for the Energy industry.  As you can see, we need to think this through a lot more to come up with some practical policies,  strategies, suggestions.

Some would say that Fusion will have a negative impact on the energy industry and all its employees. But since it would take a decade to get a working fusion power-plant going, and another several years to get them in widespread use, this gives the industry some time to re-configure and phase out so that those who are working now wind the operation down and they dont hire new people, and a new generation of people are trained in the smaller, more numerous fusion plant operation.

It seems that work at such plants may be more satisfying. The power plant operator will be more in touch with the locality that they supply the power to, feel more like a member of the community. That could be nice and wholesome.

Also, perhaps there are ways to harness the energy industry to shift into deploying the fusion throughout the world. They might be effective in using their resources for wiring the whole world - this is a big project. It would be great to have them work with fusion instead of against it. But they might be entrenched in a rigid, centralized planning model and thus ineffective. Perhaps they can be dynamic. Anyway, Im trying to figure out a way to cast this as an opportunity for them but dont really know anything about the industry.
