Pinhole camera effects
Smudge or plasmoid? The crew develops the film from the X-ray pinhole camera.
Per the July LPPX Report:
We attempted to take some pictures of the plasmoids with an X-ray pinhole camera and did obtain some interesting looking spots.
However, we are not saying these are actual images for several reasons. First there were spots outside of the exposed area of the film, which we believe came from our handling of the film after exposure. We are sure we can eliminate these spots with proper handling, but at the moment, they confuse the picture.
In addition, the X-ray yield measured by the PMTs is hundreds of times too small to produce dark images on the film. We expect to achieve these images with larger shots in August and September.
Here’s a picture of the pinhole camera, flanked by PMTs. Better pictures to be uploaded soon.
