Patent Issued
On January, 27, the US Patent office issued patent 7,482,607, Method and apparatus for producing x-rays, ion beams and nuclear fusion energy, to Eric J. Lerner and Aaron Blake, with the assignment of the patent to Lawrenceville Plasma Physics Inc.
The patent covers the basic idea of focus fusion, which is to use very high magnetic fields, generated in a physically small plasma focus device to suppress x-ray cooling of the plasma and achieve net fusion energy.
It also covers the idea of using small magnetic fields along the axis of the device to impart the right amount of angular momentum to form the plasmoid where the fusion reactions take place.
In addition, the patent covers an original method of converting the x-ray pulse into electricity with a massively multi-layered photoelectric device.
The patent covers using these ideas both to produce fusion and to procure x-rays and ion beams for other applications.
