Video of the LPPX crew firing FoFu1 yesterday (September 29) after their latest redesign of the switches (switches 5.0, I believe, or perhaps even 6.0).  Does their innovation work?  Do all the switches fire?  Watch the video:

Excellent! Twice, anyway. How many 12-switchers did they get in altogether?

I notice the goal of net energy is now “2011”. Is there still any possibility of making it by New Year’s Day?

Derek!  The entire grants culture is based on the 180° opposite of that!

Excellent work! Thanks for posting the video. It makes it so much more tangible for everyone.

Next best thing to being there! Don’t worry, Brian. pB-11 fuel is still a wild card.

Re:12-switchers: Four trigger heads are out of commission, but we hope to be back to 12 capacitor banks by mid-October thanks to a new design by Fred. On the 29th, it was four out of four non-prefires having all 8 connected switches fire.  The pre-fires were improved on the 30th by further adjusting the spark plugs (increasing the gap to make it a bit harder to trigger prematurely), and the switches continued to consistently fire together that day.

Great vid! Amazing to see what you guys have already achieved in such a short time and on a shoestring budget… Science in the making. Keep up the good work!

What was the yield, in Joules, of beam from the plasmoid?

DerekShannon's avatar

@MTd2 that’s the kind of data that will be in peer-reviewed publications under preparation.

Why waiting that much? You guys were pretty outspoken to announce new results up to now. Or…

Did you finally fix the issue with the small plasmoids by adjusting the axial field?
