NAS Inertial Fusion Review - December 16
The National Academies of Science, National Research Council, will commence its study “Prospects for Inertial Confinement Fusion Energy Systems” on December 16 with a meeting to be held at the Keck Center, 500 5th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.
A Committee has been formed, to be chaired by Ron Davidson (PPPL) and Jerry Kulcinski (U.Wisconsin). Information on the project scope, committee membership and meeting can be accessed on the project’s web site.
Open to the Public
Portions of this meeting are open to the public. This is a great opportunity to meet the fusion decision makers and express your thoughts.

For a more in depth discussion, start a thread in the forums.It would be nice to hear an announcement like this for Focus Fusion. The Navy has funded IEC, and Eric was funded by NASA grants a few years ago, so maybe a combined NAS review of alternative fusion methods could be planned. It’s a nice thought anyway.
Be careful what you wish for ...
Many of the committee members have backgrounds in the use of lasers, particle accelerators and heat exchangers. I think DPF might get short-changed in the study.
