Job Opening - Experimental Plasma Physicist
Update: This position is filled.
Initial post:
XinPei Lu, LPP’s experimental plasma physicist, has returned to China for personal reasons and will not be able to work with LPP as planned. This has created an immediate opening for an experimental plasma physicist who can start work within one month.
Lawrenceville Plasma Physics, Inc., a small research and development company, is seeking an experimental plasma physicist to participate in an exciting experiment in controlled thermonuclear fusion using the plasma focus device. We are initiating a series of experiments aimed at testing the science feasibility of aneutronic pB11 fusion using the plasma focus, and our facility in New Jersey will have a newly built device that will be among the most powerful in the world.
The successful candidate will have solid experience in the use of pulsed power systems and extensive experimental plasma physics expertise. He or she will be familiar with plasma diagnostics, including x-ray and neutron detectors. Enthusiasm for the project and bold imagination are a must. The physicist will work on a small experimental team in a collaborative setting with close cooperation between theoretical and experimental scientists. The position offers a highly competitive salary, full family medical insurance, and stock options. Lawrenceville Plasma Physics, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer. Minorities and women are strongly encouraged to apply. The physicist must be able to start work within one month.

For a more in depth discussion, start a thread in the forums.Maybe it would be an idea to post this job opening on the various mainstream fusion/tokamak forums.
At least there are quite some qualified physicists hanging around there…
Edit:
“Minority, women and are strongly encouraged.”
Even Yoda parse that could not.
Thanks Brian! Edited.
Belbear - do you have links to these forums? I would appreciate that! Thanks in advance!
Re: edit;
Hm, I wouldn’t go too far along implying that affirmative action will be used.
Except, of course, for paralyzed guys in wheelchairs using computer voices to communicate!
If any should happen to be hawking their services.
I googled around a bit and found some places where you could post a job opening:
Unofficial ITER fanclub
http://forums.iterfan.org/
More general science & physics:
http://www.thescienceforum.com/
http://www.physicsforums.com/
http://www.physforum.com/
Science magazine job ad site (will cost $!):
http://sciencecareers.sciencemag.org/for_advertisers
Please note that I am not related to anyone of these organisations or webfora, nor can I say anything about the kind of folks that visit them
There is also the good ol’ usenet:
news:sci.physics.plasma
Lotsa nerds in there
sci.physics.plasma seems kinda dead.
But there actually are some job offerings on sci.physics.research
I would not recommand sci.physics.fusion, it seems to have a high degree of bogus science.
Leads to amusing websites such as: http://www.thermonuclearfusionreactor.co.uk/
The LLP link above is busted.
Copied the LLP employment announcement into the Fusor group’s announcements:
http://www.fusor.net/board/view.php?bn=fusor_announce&bn=fusor_announce&key=1251309306
Maybe also post on Talk-Polywell, the forum for Dr. Bussard’s polywell reactor.
A good sub forum would be the ‘News’ section, where they’re discussing focus fusion too:
http://talk-polywell.org/bb/viewforum.php?f=10
I’m just a lurker over there, but Aeronaut and Torulf are regular posters (plus Art Carlson).
Oh, I’ve just read it was posted the anyway by somebody called ‘chrismb’:
