Fred Van Roessel joins the LPPX team 1-2 days per week as a part-time consultant.  An electrical engineer, he brings his skills with instrumentation to the team.  Currently, he is optimizing the ICCD camera.

Fred Van Roessel started his career in the Television Group at Philips Research Laboratories in the Netherlands.  He stayed with Philips when he emigrated to the US, and was responsible for Broadcast Color Camera Development.  Later on he developed the software and hardware for fully automating camera adjustments.  For this and earlier work he has been awarded 17 patents.

He has participated in ATSC Committees and the HDTV Advisory Panel Working Groups when he was with Philips and later Panasonic.
He has been active with the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers in various committees, especially the Colorimetry Committee and later the Digital Cinema Committee, where he chaired the Digital Cinema Colorimetry Committee.

He is a member of the IEEE and a Fellow of the SMPTE.

With Tel-Instrument Electronics he developed software for Avionics Test Sets.

He makes a great addition to the LPPX team.  Welcome aboard!

If you can’t fix the problem with a hammer—it’s electrical!

Fred welcome aboard, I envy you!!

The switches can wait for a fully operational diagnostic suite, imo.

Very interesting and impressive background that Mr. Van Roessel brings. I imagine he’s got a few stories to tell about the behind-the-scenese of image production of our favorite films and shows.  Here’s to his contributions for his newest project: may the LPPX become the most historical one yet!
