Dear Focus Fusion Society Friends and Members,

The world needs fusion!  Fusion needs YOU!

This week, the Focus Fusion Society (“FFS”) launches its 2010 Fall Call for Support.

You are reading this post because something has brought you to the Focus Fusion Society website.  This suggests you are one of the pioneering people in the world who is intrigued by the possibilities of fusion, and undaunted by the challenges.

Your support is needed now!

The Focus Fusion Society needs your help. Without your help and that of other contributors, FFS cannot continue to do what it has been doing for the last year—the reports, the updates, the explanations, the photos and videos that inform you and all who visit the website about the need for aneutronic fusion and the progress towards that goal.

Don’t watch it happen, MAKE it happen!

For more info on what your support will enable, check out this post!

For FFS to continue at our present level, we need to raise $50,000 by Dec.31 from the general public, from supporters like YOU!

This is entirely possible. There are 1300 of you registered on the forum (we’ve blocked the many thousands of questionable ‘bots.  As far as we can tell, based on your answers, you are all real people who care about fusion).  If each of you donates to the Focus Fusion Society, FFS would already be near its goal. So please, Donate now!

And also, “retweet” and “like/share” articles you read on our site so we can connect with the other people out there who are drawn to fusion.

The FFS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in New Jersey.  All donations are tax deductible (for US tax purposes).  Suggested donations range from $30 to $300, in honor of the 3 alpha particles of an aneutronic pB11 reaction.

Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.  And you can also donate time!  There’s a lot to do!

Benefits of Supporting the Focus Fusion Society:

One day, when we get bigger, we’ll have swag to offer.  For now, as a donor to the Focus Fusion Society, you can proudly proclaim that you are helping the Focus Fusion Society to promote and pursue fusion.

This will give you a “warm inner glow” and hopefully lead to a ten billion degree inner glow in the DPF or other fusion breakthroughs!  Whatever it takes!

Fusion represents a technological barrier for our civilization, a threshhold.  We have been aware of this threshhold for decades, but we haven’t crossed it.  How we address it, tackle it, break through it, defines us as people.

The challenges we face are not small.  Together, we can do it!

Thank you for your support!

I thought the problems with equipment were almost solved and all remained was adjusting the axial field, increase the current and use decaborane.

This call for support is from the Focus Fusion Society.  You’re talking about The LPP Experiment.

LPPX needs far more than this!  (Accredited investors contact them directly).  Their problems to which you refer took an extra 8 months to solve - using up 8 months of budget.  A bigger budget might have shortened the time - they could have tried a few solutions in parallel instead of in sequence.

The remaining steps (“all that remains”) require resources to complete and may also yield some delays.  I wish this was just a montage sequence in a movie and every scientist was Tony Stark.  (Then again, those montage sequences look easy, but they’re not cheap:  Budget for “Iron Man 2” was $200 Million dollars.  Don’t know what the budget for the montage sequence in the movie was, you know the one.)  Better to say, I wish we had Iron Man’s budget.

Please note, the Focus Fusion Society is a nonprofit that addresses awareness, education, policy.  Our goals are described here. As you see, concurrent with following LPPX, we are discovering and promoting diverse approaches to fusion.

In the event the LPP experiment does not work for fusion (investors, I’m told there are consolation spinoff products), our mission to promote fusion will continue.  In the event LPP does work, we’ll be swallowed up by it and become its charitable arm, making sure the benefits of this invention are distributed to all mankind.

At present, it’s proof of concept time.  We can’t guarantee either outcome and are in this fascinating space of exploration and projection.

Further clarification:  LPP is a for-profit pursuing one specific experimental route to fusion.  Only accredited investors can invest in it.

In other words, money given to FFS does not fund research for LPP.

We shall endeavor to make this clearer throughout the site.  If you notice areas where it’s confusing, please let me know.

How reliable is the new equipment? Anyway, there are 2 achievements distinguishes Focus Fusion from all approaches and if I were an investor, those would be the ones which I would look for:

1. The big peek in fusion rates due the correct tuning of the axial field.

2. Bremsstrahlung suppression cause by magnetic quantization.

Both should be very clear signs with lots of data points.

I wouldn`t even care for the demonstration of breakeven, in first place, because achieving that would look like a trivial engineering problem. Those 2 are very serious and fundamental theoretical problems.

Somehow I think this move will not be a very big success. I did donate myself and trying to spread the message, but I think the community needs to be more involved, the efforts need to be more coordinated, insensitives have to be provided, more options and clarifications for support have to be developped and more questions need to be answered (why you need funds and what else can be done).

Just made my donation because the FFS rocks and, obviously, needs to be put in a position to keep on rocking!

Just made my donation. Something that may encourage more donations is a page listing every individual’s donation. I donate occassionally to PES (www. freeenergynews.com)and they run such a page on their website. I know it shouldn’t matter but it’s a bit like when you give somone a wedding present - you want them to know it’s from you and generally people enjoy recieving a thank you card. People inherently still want to be given credit for doing a good deed. A receipt via email for tax purposes may also be handy.

Keep up the good work !
