Arif Basha

Arif Basha is currently serving as Information Security Officer for the American Psychological Association in Washington, DC. Arif has established a security practice from the ground up, while also providing leadership and guidance for multiple, mission critical enterprise IT initiatives. His mission is to effectively protect the organization against fraud, piracy, and cyber security breaches while ensuring business continuity, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance.
Previously as IT Systems Manager for Janes Information Group, Arif played a key role in Janes’ merger with IHS, Inc. This merger created a $700 million+ global defense and security consulting, research, and publishing company relied upon by businesses and governments around the globe. Prior to that as Program Associate at Princeton Energy Resources International, he demonstrated his business analysis skills and strategic insights in design and support of economic development programs under the auspices of USAID.
Arif began his career as a Project Associate at the Administrative Staff College of India, where he assisted in development and execution of USAID projects for private power project financing in India. He conducted indepth business and market analyses that provided him with insights into business valuation that have been invaluable in his involvement with corporate M&A strategy throughout his career.
Arif holds a Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, an MS in Information Security & Assurance from George Mason University, and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from India’s Osmania University. In addition to these degrees, Arif’s professional credentials include a CISSP, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, and CRISC.
